Thirty-three pre-1960’s cars graced the great lawn at the 5th Annual Deering Estate Vintage Auto Show on Sunday, March 12, 2017. Ranging from a 1920 Ford Model T to a 1959 Edsel Corsair CV, the vintage cars were a crowd pleaser to the over one thousand visitors. Also on display were the resident 1950 International Harvester truck, an antique wooden boat, and a beautiful Mercedes-Benz S63 AMG Cabriolet brought by our supporter Mercedes-Benz of Cutler Bay.
Activities for young and old were plentiful. Car owners submitted photographs of portions of their cars which became clues on paper for a scavenger hunt for children. It was fun watching parents guide their children to search for a specific feature of a car. The kids got so excited when they matched the photo to the various cars on their own. There were old fashion lawn games, miniature car racing and plenty of tasty food from Sports Grill.
The car owners and their families enjoyed a leisure day in the 444-acre park that overlooks Biscayne Bay. Besides going on guided historical house tours and natural area tours, they talked with the many visitors about their cars, picnicked, and kicked off their shoes to relax. Most of all, it was a very relaxing Sunday in the park. The overall consensus was that it was a perfectly gorgeous day to have a car show.
