Elpidio Padilla’s 1954 Buick Roadmaster Riviera 72R
Unlike Saturday, the second day of Art Deco Weekend Car Fest started out overcast and windy with the threat of heavy rain and wind. For once the meteorologists got it right. Four of us were parked on Ocean Drive around 8:15 when the heavens opened up and it poured for about 20 minutes. It then turned into a beautiful partly-cloudy day. In the end about 27 brave souls and their cars showed up to what turned out to be a great show. We again lined up along Ocean Drive from 8th Street down to 5th Street.
Ira Shapiro, Philip Williams and I would like to thank everyone who came out and made this a great show. We would also like to thank the volunteers who manned the gate, registration table and helped park cars – thank you Jean Hawa, Guy Lewis., Cindy and Greg Endres, and Ken Hilton. I forgot to thank Mel Mann, who was attending his eldest son’s wedding this weekend, for all of his effort in attending the many meetings leading up to the show. It made our two day stint all the easier. Thanks Mel.
Enjoy the photos of the show.
